deben ferret finder mk3
hi just got one of these and have been having a play in the garden with it and i dont know whether its me or there is a problem with it both on search and locate the lights/distance doesnt seem to be very accurate for instance i was about 10' away in search mode and the locator was reading 16' also at about 12' it doesnt even pick up a reading i have to be about 10-8 ft before it will even pick up the collar is this normal or am i doing somthing wrong

not sure without seeing how you are using it, have you got the trimmer control turned up full (clockwise), best way is to put the collar on the living room floor and put it in locate, this does 0.5 to 8ft. starting from the floor move the locator away and watch the led's , see how accurate it is that way

Thats why i sold mine and got the mk1 its a bit easyer.

i have always used mk1 or 2 but was unable to buy collars for them...so at the end of last season spent the cash on a mk3..tried mucking about with it in the house but its just crap so has stayed in the box ever since...so right now i am snapping mk1 and 2 locators and collars up on ebay..they sell for silly money but defo worth paying the money for...

Theres a few blokes in this country that do make the mk1 collars i got one new this year for £40.

something you need to be aware of its interferance and problems working indoors around electronic equipment or outdoors near heavy sources of metal..

both of these will interefere with the accuracy and use of your locator
