Simply failing utterly to introduce ANY of the crew

Right, I now have a 3-time rotation plan.

1 - The Mother ( Pepsi ) with her 4 jills and 2 hobs

2 - The Aunty ( Coke )

3 - The rescue ( Blondie )

There is also the daddy who is happy to go between Pepsi & her lot and coke

However, I have tried and tried to reintroduce coke to the rest of the crew and it has failed miserably. I have come to the conclusion, that they will NEVER get to play together, even though Pepsi and Coke are sisters and before they had kits, they were inseperable.

Recently I took in a recycled jill, only a young lass, who was given to a dog to "dispose" of ( twisted ) and she ais a darling and full of fun, she used to be a very aggresive biter and now she is lovely and wsweet and her hips are now ppurely playful and not hurting in any way.

However...

Coke wants to kill her, and the other lot.
The other lot want to kill her and coke
Shandy ( who we assumed would be the most likely to be chilled out with her actually is the quickest to draw blood )
She is now terrified of all the others.

I have them all now in the same room in the house, each in their own cages of course, but they can all sniff around each other, I have been trying to introduce them a little by little but its simply not working.... Its not even giving us the tionyest hint that maybe one day it just might, its only gettign worse.

For example, Hercules ( Male hob - the largest and fattest lazyest sod we have ) I put him next to Blondies open door, and I put some pork in for him.. He went for the pork as expected and weas busy eating the pork when blondie sneaked up to him to have a sniff... I then got a few drops of Ferretone onto her neck, and soem on his too, and a few secodns later Hercules was licking at the ferretone, but in about 2 seconds flat, he started to cluck and then she screamed and at that moment, he flew into a frienzy.

I tried to wait to see if anything was going to happen, but it just got louder and more agressive.

Today, I got Twisty, the most pleasant and sweetest jill kit we have, I put some ferretone onto them both and I let them sniff each others neck, Twisty started to kick and I went to put them down when blondie screamed and this sent twisty into a frienzy just like Hercules and she attacked Blondie like a nutter.

Of course I am only giving you small examples of the sort of hassle that they are putting me through but its really gone beyond fun now.

Can anyone suggest anything to help me introduce blondie to either COKE or to the other lot.

I have a habit of waffling so Im trying to keep this short and so I will leave it there.

Thanks in advance

When I got Honey she had some fur missing between her shoulder, about 1 inch by 1 inch, it seems to be getting bigger and going down her back. Her skin looks healthy, no fleas. At first I put it down to her maybe being mated earlier in the year.
She is healthy other than that.
Any ideas, I had a male ferret about 20 years ago, and he never lost hair in patches.
Also, I have tried feeding her raw chicken wings ( my dogs love these) she wont eat them, even cut off some of the meat, the dog went in the next day and ate it, also tried buying her fish today, a big no no, and she was not very keen on minced beef, seems to prefer complete dry food. will eat that likes there's no tomorrow lol Should I give her anything extra if she wont eat BARF?
All my dogs love the barf diet. I might try tripe tomorrow

ok, noticed my ferrets have been off their food a little the last couple of days. they've eaten chicken ok, and turned their noses up at kidney, which is understandable cos they've never had it before. but they dont seem to be eating much of the dried food (i had tried them with a free sample from the ferret show, but have now switched back to their regular stuff.
also there seems to be less poo but what there is is quite runny, i even heard muraco make a little fart noise which i've never heard before!
so, not sure if they've picked something up (maybe at the ferret show on sun?) and thats putting them off their food, or if i've just tried them with too much different stuff at once and them not eating the dried food has affected there poo.

thinking of giving them extra egg and cat milk, ok it wont make the poo more pleasant but it'll make sure they're eating something... any suggestions?
however they're just as energetic and excitable as always, they dont seem too bothered by it if they are ill!

anyone here feed their ferrets live prey?...

i just watched a video on youtube of someone feeding some ferrets live mice in a bath tub, i admit that doing it in a bath tub is a bit odd cos theres not really much hunting involved so they might as well be dead in the first place but i suppose its easy to clean.

just wondering what people think of it, theres loads of comments saying that its horrific, sick, twisted... etc... personally i dont think its that bad, i wouldnt do it myself but its not like they were letting ferrets loose on a toddler or anything...

anyway heres the video
We only have 1 ferret at the moment, so would be something we would maybe do next year, but this season would love to go out with someone and learn how its done.
My Husband has been out shooting rabbits with his friend and his lurchers in Wales, but we have no lurchers lol, so would love to get advise about netting please.

I have spent many days and more hours working with her and trying to build up our trust of each other than I can count.
She hasn’t had any stability in her life so obviously she’s going to be scared of me and I knew that. I hoped that by showing her kindness and working with her she would start trusting me and learning not to attack me

It had been going really well and after working with her I really thought that it was working and that she didn’t hate me any more - the way I went about it for people who haven’t seen it
http://www.ferretsforum.co.uk/forum/show...?tid=20168

Over the last few days though, it’s all gone downhill.
I’ve been getting her out of the cage at least 4 times a day to let her run around and work with the building trust stuff and it was all great she had stopped biting and I stopped being so scared of her.

Every time I’ve got her out over the last couple of days though, she has gone straight for the attack. I’m covered in cuts on my hands, arms, legs and feet from where she is constantly breaking the skin and drawing blood. This morning she even bit down to the bone on my finger. No matter what I do, she doesn’t seem to care, she’s more interested in attacking. I make sure I only get her out when she is fully fed etc but nothing is working.

I really don’t know what to do any more. I so wanted her to have a forever home with me because of everything she has gone through , but I can’t keep doing this. I am so so scared of her and the fear must be translating to her, because the more afraid I become the worse she attacks me. I am seriously considering giving her to someone who is more experienced with training bitey ferrets. I don’t want to have to rehome her (after this being at least her third home so far) but it seems like the only option

I rushed over to him, started rubbing his throat and eventually he stopped making them noises but his breathing didn't sound good, slightly weezing/struggling, but seemed to get back to normal after about an hour.

We took him to the vets at 9 this morning, he couldn't hear anything wrong with his chest or heart so thinks its his throat. He gave him an injection of antibitotics and antiinflamitiries.

when we got home I took his dry food out so it wouldnt hurt his throat and but soup and some fresh cooked chicken in.

about an hour ago he was sick.
Louie is booked back in for Friday but obviousbly if he gets worse or anything I'll make sure we take him in before then.

Hey! I just wondered... I'm getting a hutch/run for my new fuzzbutts however the concrete that I want to put it on is a bit mossy, is moss and other such plants going to harm the ferrets? If I clear it I know it will just come back. The other idea was to get some paving slabs to go over the moss but I have had a look at prices and they seem very expensive =s what are your thoughts?
I am a new proud owner of a ferret. We were not intending on getting a ferret, altho I had one about 19 years ago, things were very different then. We just happened to be in the right place at the right time when we got Honey, she was being handed into a RSPCA kennels where we were staying with friends on holiday. My friend does a lot with dogs and cats put into rescue, she is very caring. Well she brought Honey in the house, and me and the kids fell in love with her straight away. She is about 18 months old, and so tame. They lent us a harness and ferret box to bring her home in, and she is staying in a giant dog cage at the moment, we have just finished building her a 3 storey outside hutch. She runs around the front room with our dogs, they have excepted her, she tries to play with them, and when she does a war dance they look at her like she is crazy lol She steals their tots too!!

Unusual pastime for a chap I know. Anyone else here crochet (and with beads). Have always been interested in Knots etc since my potholing days. If you are rigging a 100 foot shaft with rope with ten wet and impatient potholers waiting behind you then you have to know your stuff and get on with it quick. I always thought that old ladies who could knit jumpers were very clever. After all what is a jumper but an enormous and very complicated knot. So I learned to knit. Socks on four needles were a favourite with my own way of turning the heel. Found a tatting shuttle in a charity shop so learned to tat. Interesting but not very useful except for edging my boxer shorts. Crochet is easy and useful. Socks are so easy that I make them fitted to right and left feet.... Bought some kids beads from a charity shop and started doing a couple of endless beaded rope bracelets just out of interest. Spent five hours over the last couple of days trying to do a spiral and dot pattern bracelet with silver and pearl seed beads and a 1mm crochet hook. The most exhasperating experience of my life to date. Hey Ho. Bob.

Ive not even got over snowball the other week and this. It was a terrible accident. I left them that afternoon to have some t andcame back after t about 2 hours later to check and play with them as i always do before bed etc. I noticed he was missing and couldnt see him but then saw that the newspaper under the litter tray was very vet and wonderd why. They are all in a massive stable with a jiant cage in the corner as a slaeep box etc and place to shut them uo when cleaning.
I took the paper out to change and noticed i couldnt get a fresh bit back. I then to my horror saw it was his legs!! He was dangeling down squahed and trapped between the wall and the cage. I got him out but he had gone and was so flat. I cant get it out my head and feel so so guilty and upset. He was so lovely and just like his dad. Licker was his nick name as he just used to love to cuddle up to me and my chap and lick us. I really cant get over it as its truly horific how he dies and never ever should of happend. Snowball was bad enough and now this! Im panicking constantly now checking all the time. Ive moved the cage away from the wall. He must of slipped or something i dont know. I cant help feeling he was trapped while i was so close but dodnt hear a thing!!! He must of suffocated.
The othere night beofre bed i went back about 20times!! in the end my chap had to drag me in. Ive kinda developed a obsessive comulsive disorder as am so paranoid now and upset.
